Blood Orange Cosmopolitan Recipe

The Blood Orange Cosmopolitan drink is as delicious as it is simple. I remember bartending at a private holiday party where they served this drink. The minute they opened the bar, the drink became an instant hit, and was gone within a few minutes.

The bartenders and waitstaff had to continually replenish the bar with the ingredients needed to make the drink because the entire crowd had been sold on this cocktail.

I’m just putting it out there. The Blood Orange Cocktail is an extremely delicious drink, and is by far, an excellent choice to use during any social occasion – be it a company-sponsored happy hour, trivia night or a more intimate setting such as a housewarming or holiday house party.

The drink’s simplicity and deliciousness lend themselves very well to making this drink, probably my cosmo drink of choice.

You can serve the blood orange cocktail either in a martini or a highball glass, and garnish it with a slice of blood-orange or lime. If you’re preparing this drink for a larger crowd, you can also pre-make the mixture in a large bowl and serve it out as if it were a punch. Just make sure to stick to the ratio listed below. It’s basically equal parts vodka and juice mixed with triple-sec.

For the recipe below, I used a smooth, plain vodka, but if you want a drink that’s heavier on the citrus flavor, use citron vodka.
