This simple two ingredient drink might not be the most popular, but it sure is pretty! And who doesn’t like something blue in their glass?
Whether as a shot or a proper cocktail, this is easy enough to make and anyone can do it.
Originally made with the infamous Bacardi 151 rum, there are tons of other ‘151 rum’ options out there to choose from.
Blue Lamborghini Drink
This is a beautiful blue drink that is almost neon. As a drink or shot, this 151 drink does have bite.
Ingredients
- 151 rum
- Blue Curacao liqueur
- Ice
Instructions
- Grab a shaker and fill it half with ice.
- Pour two ounces of 151 rum into shaker.
- Pour once ounce Blue Curacao into shaker.
- Mix for ten seconds.
- Pour contents of shaker including ice into a hurricane or pint glass.
- Serve!

No garnish needed.
How To Make a Blue Lamborghini Shot?
Grab a shaker and fill it half with ice. Pour in a half ounce (3/4 ounces if you have a 1 1/2 ounce shot glass) of 151 rum of your choice, and Blue Curacao.
Shake for about ten seconds. Then grab a strainer, cover the shaker and pour the chilled mixture into the shot glass.
No garnish needed!

About the Ingredients
The one thing I want to mention here is about the 151 rums. With Bacardi out of the picture due to discontinuing their 151 rum, a bunch of rum companies have joined in to fill the gap.
The best in my opinion, and the one I recommend using in this drink is Gosling’s 151 Rum. This is a dark rum from Bermuda and mixes surprisingly well with the Blue Curacao.
The problem isn’t the taste though, it’s the color.
Since Gosling’s is a dark rum, it makes the color of this drink drab, like you’ve added black ink to a blue ink. Not at all what this drink is about.
So, if you want a clear rum that gives you the same bright blue color this drink is known for, use Stark Spirits California Silver 151 Rum. It’s a quality 151 rum, and it’s a ‘silver’ or ‘blanco’ so it won’t interfere with the crisp blue of the Blue Curacao.

Similar Drinks with Similar Ingredients
Flaming Lamborghini Shot – Obviously these two shots are close. But this shot is far simpler to make than the flaming variety. Safer too!
Blue Cosmopolitan – This drink is blue and does have Blue Curacao as an ingredient, but that’s where the similarities stop. But it is a nice cosmo variation!
