Yummy Purple Grape Gatorade Shot Recipe

If you’re looking for a ‘true’ grape Gatorade shot recipe, good luck! I wanted to be sure of my recipe ingredients before I posted this, so I looked around the net, YouTube and tiktok. I was totally surprised by how many variations of the recipe there are. I even tried a few, and nothing was really the same as purple Gatorade.
So this recipe is one you can trust. Yeah, it really does taste like purple Gatorade and as far as I am concerned, it’s the shot recipe everyone shot be using as a ‘standard’ one until I can find something better. Or invent one! But of course if you’ve made something different that tastes great and mimics Gatorade, let me know and I’ll give it a try. And if I agree, I’ll add this here as well.
This is also called a Purple Pooper in parts of the USA. I guess it depends on where you’re from. I’ve never heard the term used, but whatever floats your boat, right?
Purple Gatorade Shot
Another copycat drink, this purple Gatorade shot recipe contains five ingredients and tastes just like purple Gatorade.
Ingredients
- 1.5 ounces of Grape Vodka
- 1 ounce of Blue Curacao
- 1 ounce of sweet and sour mix
- 1 ounce of grenadine
- Sprite or 7up
Eqipment
- Shaker
- Strainer
- Shot glasses or rocks glass
Instructions
- Grab your cocktail shaker and a strainer.
- Add a handful of ice to your shaker.
- Pour the grape vodka, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix and grenadine into the shaker with ice.
- Mix for a few seconds to cool of the ingredients.
- Pour into three shot glasses or one rocks glass.
- Top off with 7up or Sprite.
- Serve!

This makes either 3 shots or one 'drink' depending on how you serve this drink or how much of each ingredient you use.
How to Make a Grape Gatorade Shot
You’re going to need a shaker and a strainer. Add a handful of ice to your shaker. Pour in a shot of Grape Vodka as it mixes well with Gatorade, an ounce of Blue Curacao, sweet and sour mix and grenadine. Shake for a few seconds to chill the drink. Pour into your shot glass or a rocks glass and top off with Sprite. Then drink up!
Tips for Making This Recipe
I like using a rocks glass rather than a shot glass. I just think it looks a lot better and if you’re following this recipe, then there’;’s going to be too much for just one shot glass (See measurements in ML here). So this recipe makes either three shots, or one highball ‘drink’ that of course can still act as a shooter.
What Glass Do I Use?
Use three shot glasses or a rocks glass (my personal choice). There’s no garnish for this, but if you really wanted one I think a maraschino cherry would work best.

- 1 ounce of Blue Curacao
- 1 ounce of Sweet and Sour Mix
- 1 ounce of Grenadine
- Top off with Sprite

About the Ingredients
Grape Vodka – I like using Smirnoff brand for this as it’s cost effective and is a decent vodka to mix with. If you want something better, try Three Olives Grape Vodka.
Blue Curacao – DeKuyper is fine for this, or whatever you have on hand.
Sweet and Sour Mix – Instead of buying a pre-made mix, why not try making your own mix? It’s a whole lot tastier!

What’s a Purple Gatorade Shot?
This is one of those copycat recipes that have seemed to become all the rage like a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot or you name it! And yes, it really does taste just like Purple Gatorade. That’s why I say this is the ‘real’ recipe.
