Summer Hummer Drink Recipe

If you’re looking for a light summer drink that’s refreshing but not the same old Margaritas or Daiquiris, our Summer Hummer Drink is nice change.

The Summer Hummer green drink is a three ingredient cocktail that only takes a minute to make. It’s not that other thing, so get your mind out of the gutter!

This drink is made with Absolut Lime Vodka, lemonade, any lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage like Sprite, 7 Up, or Sierra Mist, and a lemon wedge for a garnish if you want to dress up your cocktail.

And don’t worry if you don’t have a bottle of Absolut Lime Vodka on hand. Just use any vodka and the juice from half a lime and you’re basically there.

And if you want something a little sweeter, this isn’t too sweet unless you’re using sweetened lemonade, then go for a pink lemonade instead of the usual.

How to Make a Summer Hummer?

Making a Summer Hummer cocktail is really easy. There are only three ingredient plus ice, and no special bar tools are necessary. Here’s how you make a Summer Hummer to be proud of!

Add 2 fluid ounces of Absolut Lime Vodka, 2 fluid ounces of any prepared lemonade like Country Time or similar, 4 fluid ounces of any lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage like Sprite or 7up (my favorite!), with some ice to a cocktail glass or better yet, a proper pint glass.

Add a straw (metal please) and give it a nice stir to mix the ingredients. Garnish with a lemon wedge, or lime if you don’t have lemons. Then drink up!

Easy Summer Hummer Variations

Try this with any lime Vodka, Country Time Lemonade and homemade Sweet N Sour Mix (half lemon juice, half simple syrup) to your liking.

Or…

Lime Vodka, Country Time Lemonade, Sundrop soda with a splash of OJ.

Or…

Class it up using Triple Sec for 1/3 of Lime Vodka.

It’s your drink, so make it the way YOU want! You can even use pink lemonade. Any of these variations are delicious. And you could just start with the original recipe and work your way through them all to see which version you like best.

About the Ingredients…

Vanilla Vodka

Vanilla vodka is a unique and delicious alcoholic beverage. It’s made with genuine vanilla extract, making it one of the few flavored vodkas that can actually be called “real”. Whether you’re a fan of strong mixed drinks like our Summer Hummer Cocktail, or just enjoy the subtle sweetness of vanilla in your favorite cocktail, vanilla vodka is sure to add some extra flavor.

This type of vodka has been around for years but recently has started to become more popular in bars across the country. Vanilla vodka mixes really well with almost any other liquor as well as juices, sodas and various types of liqueurs which makes it a great choice for creative cocktails. It also stands on its own – try sipping it neat or over ice for an indulgent treat!

Lemonade

Lemonade is the quintessential summer drink. Whether made from freshly squeezed lemons or purchased pre-made, lemonade is a refreshing way to cool off on a hot day. Every corner store and café seems to offer it as a beverage option these days!

Though we all recognize that familiar tart flavor of classic lemonade, it can come in many different forms. You might be surprised by the range of ingredients used to make this iconic drink—from fresh ginger, mint leaves, and strawberries to raspberries and even lavender! Lemonade can be tailored to any taste preference you can imagine. Plus, there’s always the option to add alcohol for an adults-only version.

If you are feeling adventurous, why not try making your own homemade lemonade? It’ll make this drink recipe pop!

Lemon-Lime Flavored Carbonated Beverage

This recipe calls for a lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage, either 7Up or Sprite, although I think 7Up works best. Read on for some interesting information on 7Up!

Lemon-lime flavored carbonated drinks were first introduced in 1929 by Charles Leiper Grigg with his invention of ‘Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda’. It was initially known as Howdy Orange Drink and then changed to 7 Up shortly afterwards. Since then, it has remained one of the most recognizable brands on store shelves.

Sprite was introduced some years later in 1961 and has since become the second most popular lemon-lime carbonated beverage sold worldwide.

5 Gallon Summer Hummer Recipe

Here’s a recipe for a large batch of Summer Hummer Drink to make 5 gallons:

Ingredients:

  • 160 fluid ounces (1.25 gallons) Absolut Lime Vodka
  • 160 fluid ounces (1.25 gallons) prepared lemonade
  • 320 fluid ounces (2.5 gallons) lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. In a large container or punch bowl, add the Absolut Lime Vodka, prepared lemonade, and lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage.
  2. Stir the mixture well to ensure all the ingredients are combined.
  3. Fill a clean, sanitized container with ice and pour the prepared cocktail mixture over the ice. This will help keep the drink cold without diluting it too much.
  4. You can garnish the individual servings with lemon wedges or slices as desired.
  5. Serve and enjoy your refreshing Summer Hummer Drink!

Please note that when making such a large batch, it’s important to ensure that you have a container or punch bowl large enough to accommodate the 5 gallons of liquid and ice. You may also want to taste the mixture and adjust the ingredients to your personal preference, as the sweetness and strength can vary depending on the specific brands of vodka, lemonade, and carbonated beverage you use.
