Master of Mixes Margarita Mix Review
Master of Mixes Margarita Mix is a bottled mix that can be found in many grocery stores, so it’s easy to find. But do you want to really buy and drink this stuff? Is it thebest margarita mix for you money?
Personally, for this review I give this mix a 7.5 out of 10. That’s not bad, but it’s not great either. I like either the Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix or the Ficks Margarita Mix which I’ve also reviewed much better.
For me this was just too sweet. I you like your margaritas on the sweeter side like you’d find in the big chain restaurants, then you’ll probably enjoy this brand.
But if you’re used to making your own, or you go to a bar that has a decent mixologist and makes a good margarita, you’ll taste the difference immediately.

A Bottled Mix!
- A decent margarita mix that can be found in most large supermarkets and online in places like Amazon. You can buy these in 3 packs to save even more.
You can tell this is a mix. It’s not horrible, just definitely not the best margarita mix I’ve ever tasted.
I also felt the lime tartness wasn’t as strong as I like. I don’t like crazy lime, but I want to know it’s in there. I didn’t get that taste either.
I did squeeze a wedge of lime into my drink and it helped. I also tried cutting down the sweetness with a little seltzer, but that of course gave it a bit of a different taste that shouldn’t be in a margarita, so don’t do that.
One other thing to point out is that this mix is thick, like “syrupy”.
A good margarita should still be clean and smooth on your tongue. Like the authentic margarita recipe I use here. This was a bit “heavy” for me.
What I would use this mix for is to make frozen margaritas in a blender, or in a frozen margarita machine. The added ice and water will cut it down a bit more so it wouldn’t be so sweet.
And I think this would also help with the consistency of the mix. Meaning how it “feels” on your tongue.
I’m going to give that a try and report back ASAP.

They even have a “Lite” version that I haven’t tried. They say it has 93% fewer calories then the regular version. So something to think about if your trying to do a skinny cocktail.
And there’s even a “bucket” of mix that’s meant to make a gallon of margaritas instantly for a party. You just add one 750 ml bottle of tequila and you get nearly one gallon of finished Margaritas. This can be very handy if you’re short on time and a bunch of friends just happen to stop by and need a lot of shots or drinks quickly. Or if you’ve just had a really bad day, lol.

Summary
This bottled Master of Mixes Margarita Mix is non-alcoholic and can be purchased in either 1 liter bottle (33.8 Fl Oz) or a 1.75 liter bottle (59.2 Fl Oz). Although too sweet for my personal preferences, if you are used to the big food chain restaurant margaritas, you’ll probably like this. Quick, easy and no mess, it’s a decent product for the cost.
Ingredients
Just like the Ficks Margarita Mix Review I wrote here, Master of Mixes uses limes from Mexico. Yes, Mexico grows a lot of limes. And they’re tasty ones at that. So that’s a plus on their part.
They also use “essential citrus oils used in triple sec” which honestly, I have no idea what that means, you can see it here on their website. I’m guessing they mean they are mimicking Triple Sec’s flavor without alcohol?
Also listed is “…purest agave syrup” which is probably why this is so thick and “…a touch of simple syrup”. Thick! Sweet!

How to Prepare
Grab a cocktail shaker and add some ice. Combine 4 ounces of the mix and 1 1/2 oz. of your favorite tequila. No need to use a great tequila here as the sweetness will easily overpower the taste.
Rim a margarita or rocks glass with some salt. Shake well and pour into your prepared glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
For a frozen margarita, prepare your glass the same and garnish the same.
pour 4 ounces of the mix and 1 1/2 oz. of your favorite tequila into the blender with a handful of ice and blend for 30 seconds. Pour into your glass and garnish.
You can use a frozen margarita machine as well.
And of course you don’t need to mix this with tequila at all. You could just use the mix as a virgin-style mocktail.
